TERROR OF LIVING in Dublin
On the 15th January 2007 the British press reported a foiled
terrorist threat involving a group of men attempting to make a homemade
explosive device using chapatti flour, the central ingredient of Indian
bread. This time, the Great British love affair with Indian food had
taken on a whole new meaning. By re-arranging different material from
found media (newspapers and websites) with personal encounters with
terror(ism) and anti-terror(ism), Jiva Parthipan explores the terror of
living. Co-commissioned by Birmingham Repertory Theatre and Collide
with additional support from Arts Council England.
"With a blend of provocation and sly humour, artist Jiva Parthipan deliberately engages with cultural paranoia" Tina Jackson, Metro
